WHAT WE HAVE DONE
Since 2013, UDU has led the National Council of University Students: over 10 years of uninterrupted presidency, during which we have brought the voice of students to the most important institutional places.
In the last term, the presidency was given to Alessia Conti, a student from the University of Padova, demonstrating how deeply our commitment is rooted in local communities and able to truly represent everyone.
Over the years, thanks to our constant work, we have achieved concrete results that have improved the academic life of hundreds of thousands of students. Here are some of the most significant victories:
- Extension of the academic year during and beyond COVID
During the pandemic, we obtained the extraordinary extension of the academic year, a measure that supported those who faced difficulties in continuing their studies. This extension remained in effect even beyond the emergency, until last year. - 9 million for mental well-being
We secured national funding for free psychological support in universities, with a structured fund of 9 million euros. Despite the cuts imposed by the government on the FFO this year, we have demonstrated that mental health is not a luxury, but a right. - Qualification-granting degrees
Among the most significant achievements: the introduction of qualification-granting degrees, particularly for Psychology, overcoming bureaucracy and post-graduation internships that delayed entry into the job market. A fundamental step for the professional dignity of those who are trained in university. - 9 million for anti-violence support services in universities
Thanks to our work, we secured a fund dedicated to university anti-violence support services, now directly financed within the FFO. It’s an important first step towards creating truly safe academic spaces. - Rent fund: no more cuts, mobilizations begin
The government had cut the rent contribution fund, but thanks to student mobilization and our political pressure, the fund has been restored. Because the right to education also includes the concrete ability to live in university cities.
AND WE WON’T STOP HERE
The CNSU is not just a place of representation; it is a battleground. We continue to advocate for those who experience university every day, building a public, accessible, inclusive, and free education system.
